In Loving Memory of My Father, Bill Griffin
Bill Griffin, age 85, of Foley, Alabama passed away at 4:29pm CST on February 5th, 2026.
He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Bill was born on May 18th, 1940, to Homer & Myrtle Griffin, of Paducah, Kentucky.
He was married to my mom, Robbie Gayle Gates of Paducah, Kentucky on November 24th, 1962.
He is survived by his wife, and their two children, Billy (Cheryl, Katelyn & Billy III) and Susan (Robin). His siblings were Larry and Frank (Bo) Griffin, along with his sister, Mary Alice. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and other family members throughout western Kentucky.
My dad had a career in operations and maintenance while working in the aggregates and transportation industry for many years. He was also involved in youth sports and ministry work with local schools and churches in the western Kentucky region.
He will always be known for his unconditional love and desire to help people from all walks of life. He spent many hours volunteering his time to mentor and coach youth basketball programs throughout Livingston County, and he and Robbie both shared responsibilities in ministry efforts with Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah, Kentucky. His wife, Robbie, remains the only living charter member of Southland Baptist Temple.
My father was a major supporter of the business, having not only spent hours of labor on projects, but offering sound financial and business advice through the years. He and my mother, Robbie, enjoyed traveling to projects on occasion and always made for some enjoyable road trips!
After retiring, he and my mom moved to the city of Foley, Alabama, near the popular beach destination of Gulf Shores. He stayed active enjoying his hobbies such as gardening, coin hunting, and going to estate sales and antique shops collecting some of the most unique items and historic treasures possible! He and mom spent all their time together and were most commonly referred to simply as “Bill & Robbie.” And anyone who knew my dad knew that he was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for.
The family will be having a private service to honor his life and requests that any cards and letters be sent to their home. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that you please consider a donation to dad's favorite charity, St. Jude’s.
